Jackie Briggs - ATOY Regional Finalist

JACKIE BRIGGS CHOSEN ARKANSAS TEACHER OF THE YEAR REGIONAL FINALIST

 The Arkansas Department of Education announced July 5 that Jackie Briggs has been chosen a  2024 Arkansas Teacher of the Year Regional Finalist.  Mrs. Briggs is the current Walker Pre-Kindergarten Center and Magnolia School District Teacher of the Year.  She will be one of fourteen educators invited to a special recognition event at 11 a.m. July 27, 2023, at the Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock.

 At this event, each regional finalist will be recognized and be given a certificate and a $1,000 prize provided by the Walton Family Foundation.  At the conclusion of the event, the four state semi-finalists will be announced.

 Jackie’s teaching career spans thirty-four years which began in the fall of 1989 with the Magnolia School District at West Side Kindergarten Center.  She has taught many different grade levels in her career and just completed her fourth year at Walker Pre-Kindergarten Center as a PK teacher.  During her career, Mrs. Briggs also made a personal endeavor to start and run an after-school reading tutoring program. Jackie states that she, “has a passion to teach children who are reading below grade level.”
